My wife and I took a trip out to the Buckfast area scouting for bluebells. Having found a couple of nice locations on the moor recently I wanted to find some other places. Now these locations seem to be a secret but basically I googled bluebells and Dartmoor and hey presto. Hembury Woods area and adjacent woods seemed to be a good location but it was a big place and we were unsure of where to go. We walked around the woods there for about 3 hours and finally found what we were looking for. I think I’ll have to revisit this site but also the other locations I’ve found in the next week, including Emsworthy Barn/Holwell Lawn area and they are late this year and none of them near Bovey are fully out yet but nice to take some bluebell shots.
We also visited the nearby River Dart and the beech plantations were just out in leaf with their vibrant green leaves – Wonderful. There were also plenty of wild flowers out on the walk round.
